Rotterdam has a recently opened market hall in the city centre. The building is massive with images of fruit, vegetables, local landmark buildings, etc., all printed onto panels that follow the form of the roof.
The images are photorealistic and give the building a real personality. The building has become quite a tourist attraction, showing that good innovative architecture adds to the character of a city.
The artwork is by Arno Coenen and Iris Roskam, and the building is designed by MVRDV architects.
