Rotterdam central railway station by architect Zaha Hadid
We were lucky enough to visit the new railway station in Rotterdam last week, by UK based architect, Zaha Hadid.
What a fantastic introduction to Rotterdam as you arrive into this amazingly dramatic structure.
The building is made from reflective metal, with a roof clad in solar cells. The typography on the front of the station is taken from the original railway station that this replaces. Inside there is a very long screen showing a, very well created, video of Holland, old and new.
We can learn a great deal from the way the Dutch approach their built environment.
